Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Habit Tracker is a Chrome extension that helps you track habits, tasks, and events and optionally sync them with Google Calendar. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about our data practices.
Data we handle
- Local data (default): Your habits, tasks, events, and settings are stored locally in your browser using
chrome.storage
. We do not operate a backend server and do not receive this data.
- Google account data (optional): If you connect Google Calendar, we access:
- Basic profile necessary for authentication via
chrome.identity
.
- Calendar data necessary to create, read, and update events you choose to sync.
How we use data
- Provide core features (store items locally, display schedules, reminders).
- When enabled, sync selected items to your Google Calendar and keep them updated.
Data sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not share your data with third parties except Google solely for the purpose of providing Calendar sync via Google APIs.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
- identity: to authenticate your Google account, only if you choose to connect.
- Calendar API scope: to create/read/update events you explicitly choose to sync.
- chrome.storage: to store your data on your device.
Data retention & deletion
- You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from the extension. Upon disconnecting, the extension stops accessing your Google data.
- Local data can be cleared by removing the extension data from Chrome settings or by using the “Reset/Clear data” option inside the extension (if available).
- Because we do not run a server, we cannot delete data stored in your Google account; you can remove synced events directly in Google Calendar.
Security
Data is stored locally by Chrome. Access to your Google account is handled via Google’s OAuth flow. We recommend keeping your browser updated and protecting your device.
Children’s privacy
This extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Use the extension entirely offline without Google services.
- Connect/disconnect Calendar at any time.
- Control which items are synced.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date above when we do.
